Real Estate Investing in New Braunfels, Texas

Christine: New Braunfels is one of my favorite cities to suggest to investors looking for Texas real estate. It’s pretty, has a small-town feel, and is affordable. Since it’s a small town, leases can take a little longer or can go for a little less, but an appreciation play historically works well here. You’ll also appreciate the low property tax rates!

New Braunfels, Texas

A Texas riverside community steeped in history is one of the hottest zip codes in the United States. Situated between Austin and San Antonio, New Braunfels has grown by 66 percent since 2012, a growth rate nearly four times the state of Texas, according to the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation. NBEDC cites “exceptional quality of life, excellent public schools, and our prime location in the San Antonio-Austin corridor” as reasons for the growth, as well as large-scale developments like Veramendi and Mayfair and corporate expansions like Continental, TaskUs North American Headquarters, and McCoy’s Building Supply.

New Braunfels is also a tourist hotspot. It’s home to the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers, and its beautiful scenery and cold waters attract scores of Texans for inner tubing and other water and park activities. Gruene Historic District, with original 1800s German buildings, hosts fun dining and dancing opportunities, and Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Natural Bridge Caverns also are in New Braunfels.

From a real estate investment standpoint, New Braunfels is attractive because property values are slightly less than the surrounding larger metropolitan areas, which makes it easier to buy into real estate. New Braunfels also has lower taxes than many areas, with a rate of $2.12 for homes zoned for Comal Independent School District and $2.03 for New Braunfels Independent School District, according to 2022 information from NBEDC.

It’s worth researching New Braunfels to see if it’s a good fit. Here are a few links to get started, and then give me a call!
